MAPULU
Mapulu one fateful night was contacted abruptly by another female shaman of the community with the bleakest expression. Her son had gone rogue in the city roaming the streets as if his spirit had suddenly left his body never to return. Mapulu immediately went to work! She rushed to his quarters in the village with a large tobacco cigar in hand. When she arrived to his bedside she began smoking deep inhales all to a rhythmic cacophonous chant in attempt to conjure the spirits.
Bursting from her subconscious journey to the other realm she flung her eyelids open and like a mad dog fixated on a scent she rushed out to the edge of the forest and began digging ... but for what!? Miraculously she pulls this dirty artifact from the ground. It appears to be the carcass of a small marmot wrapped in banana leafs! Scurrying back to the hut, the cursed carcass in one hand and her still aflame cigar in the other, she proceeded to take massive inhales, blowing the exhalation over the artifact, over and over again all the while spasming prayers before her next giant toke of tobacco.
Utterly exhausted she abruptly stops all her action. The boy’s spirt returned to his body she declares and his mother bathed Mapulu with the most generous gift and tightest embrace.
